Sam's Interview Analysis
Sam provides hope that there are still young Americans out there who make an effort to read books and enjoy it. College students, specifically, may be too busy with school work, but what about the average adolescent or young adult who isn’t as busy? There are so many distractions today. The average teenager would be much more likely to pick up their cell phones than a book. Along with cell phones, there is social media, television shows, and everything technology related, doing something as simple as picking up a book to read is typically underrated. The bigger issue to focus on is whether shifting from print books to e-books would increase reading in American youth. However Sam prefers old-fashioned methods, which is an interesting decision. Similar to Joan and Rick, Sam is also attached to the nostalgia that print books bring. He wants to collect books until he can create his own library.
